Staff at the Beijing Global Gateway (BGG) are creating a special message to help the University of Notre Dame community celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Rabbit, the fourth of the zodiac animals.

A special piece of art was created by Vivian Zhou, program assistant at the BGG, using a combination of watercolor, colored pencil, and Chinese ink. In Chinese culture, the Rabbit is known as one of the luckiest animals in the zodiac.

This year, the Spring Festival starts on Sunday, January 22. In Chinese culture, each year in a repeating 12-year cycle is assigned an animal – a sign of inextricable connection, both physical and spiritual.

This is the third year of a tradition that Zhou started, which includes artwork from the year of the ox and tiger
